A profound dissatisfaction

11/27/19

I am completely and totally dissatisfied with the state of contemporary philosophical discourse. In many ways there has been little progress in the field in general in the past couple of millennia. With the state of contemporary philosophy being absolutely abysmal. For far too long philosophers the world over have deluded themselves with attempting to answer questions, this has resulted in the decay of the field into nothing but neologisms and academic pretensions. I would like to posit this simple axiom; its not about having the answers, its about having better questions. For thousands of years we have been stumbling in the wrong direction, we are truly the blind being lead by the blind. What we need now, is a complete start over, a true wiping clean of the slate, so that we may find, not answers the answers to questions but better  questions. It is the question itself that shapes all hitherto ideology. It is a mistake to believe that it is concepts that shape perception, it is instead the question that shapes all thought. How then can this be achieved? Even now as I type this I find that I can not help but think in terms of the classic cliches of philosophy up until this point. Try as I might my perceptions of the world around me are still shaped by the questions that have become 'cannon' in philosophy up to this point, questions of ethics, metaphysics, epistemology are all ringing in the deepest recesses of my mind shaping the limits of my thought, and my imagination. Perhaps the only way to make ground in this sense is to completely and systematically throw myself into doubt, as much doubt as I possibly can; to burn away all meaning that I have accumulated in my life up to this point until I have arrived at a fresh starting point for further inquiry.
